Summer has its benefits for our skin and our bodies. Getting a good dose of
Vitamin D from the sunshine boosts both our mood and immune system and the desire to take advantage of the good weather and do more things outdoors gets us more active, social and generally more motivated. As we know, the British Isles does not provide us with the lengthiest of Summer months, therefore we need to make the most of this period before we’re left in the dark again come September.
Getting ourselves outdoors and spending the day in environments we don’t usually get to experience on a regular basis is good for us both mentally and physically. Fresh air and new sights are stimulating for our bodies and minds, respectively, and keep us feeling happier and looking healthier.
If you’re stuck for ideas on how to spend a free day or weekend, we have some suggestions, which are great to do if you want to spend time alone or with friends and family.
Swimming
Going to an outdoor pool or even to a beach can provide you with a good balance of relaxation and activity. Swimming, or even splashing around in the shallow parts of the pool or sea is a great way to be active and have fun.
Cycling/Walking
Around the country you can find trails suitable for all levels of cycling or walking, whether you want something relaxing with as few hills as possible (they’re worth it for the cycle down, though) something scenic or a full on mountain-biking challenge, you can find places where you take your own bike or hire them out and spend the day getting your legs in fantastic shape.
The Park
It might seem a bit obvious or boring, but a large, clean park can be the perfect place for a picnic with your friends or family. If you’re a dog owner you could change the scene and go to a different place for both you and your dog to explore or include your dog in a group outing and see how unfit everyone is as they try to outrun your pet for a tennis ball. Pack snacks and drinks, a football or Frisbee, or should you have a musician amongst you, an acoustic guitar (a tambourine if not) and you’ll be surprised how much time you can spend being as lazy or as playful as you wish to be.
An Outdoor Cinema.
Nobody wants to spend a scorching hot afternoon or perfectly warm evening inside a multiplex cinema, but if you do fancy watching something on the big screen you have the option to do so outdoors! Outdoor cinemas are great for relaxed time and ideal for a romantic, summer night.
Ensure that in the process of these activities that your skin is still looked after. Make sure that whatever you decide to do and wherever you go you have plenty of water to drink to keep you hydrated. Sun tan lotion is essential especially if you’re spending a whole day in the sun! Make sure you’re well covered up otherwise sunburn and dehydration can spoil a good time.
Cycling can be rough on the palms of your hands so using
Lubatti’s Luxurious Hand Cream will keep them soft and smooth. And don’t forget, that at the end of the day your skin is as exhausted as you are, so pamper it with
